I’m starting a series of basic lessons to show you how to set up everything you need for your Facebook page, including setting up a page 😉 I love to follow baby steps when I’m doing something for the first time. I find it kind of frustrating when I read a blog that tells me I should do this and I need to do that, without giving any steps to follow. If you’re reading this, I know you feel the same way. Remember, there are no silly questions, just lack of knowledge!
So let’s get on with it. (Estimated time to complete – 10 mins max)
Adding a Facebook Like box to your blog is a great way to encourage visitors to your blog to like your business page.
It’s very simple to do. There’s only a few steps to follow and you don’t need to be a programmer, thankfully….
Go to the Facebook Developers page and select the Facebook Like Box.
Enter your Facebook Page URL in the box. Hit enter or click somewhere on the page. Your page should now appear.
You have the option to choose to show the photos of people who have liked your page. It’s a good idea to do this because people like to see smiling faces. If you don’t want to show them, un-check the box.
You can also show part of the content stream but I prefer not to do this, I like to just have the faces showing, not the content.
Finally click the Get Code button.
Facebook will give you 2 sets of code.
Paste in the code and click save, then close.
Your Facebook Like Box should now show on your blog, check it out!
Tip: If you copy the from the top box and it doesn’t work, delete it and paste in the code from the bottom box (XFBML code). I tried the code from the top box and it didn’t work but the code from the bottom box worked.
